Finding True Leaders in San Agustín, Caracas
On February 26, thanks to Gerardo Monsalve and David Cardozo visiting the area of San Agustín in Caracas, Venezuela – deep into the neighborhood looking for small sport organizations with needs – they found a true leader: Coach Yimmi Farinas.
Sports as Salvation: The San Agustín Story
There is a widespread risk for children in Caracas who play sports, especially as rates of violence and crime are increasing. The chances of personal success are at their lowest point.
However, thanks to Yimmi Farinas, the situation has improved in the town of San Agustín. This basketball coach is a pillar of society who has invested his life in educating young people and giving them a sense of identity and belonging.
“Chipi,” as his colleagues and students call him, is an example of the importance of mentorship for young people. Investing in youth improves their self-esteem and gives them the opportunity to succeed in life, even in the most challenging circumstances.
Multi-Sport Community Support
We appreciate the support of Hitting Science represented by Amaury Monsalve and McLean Little League. This campaign was started to help different sports disciplines, providing them with practice uniforms to motivate our young people.
No matter what the discipline – baseball, softball, soccer, kickball, table tennis – a team needs uniforms. This helps them be more competitive and have greater visibility in the community. Similar to our multi-sport Wild Bill initiative, we’re committed to supporting diverse athletic programs.
We are grateful for the donation and excited to see this initiative come to life. This is part of our broader community work throughout Venezuela.
See the Impact
Watch how uniforms transform not just teams, but entire communities. From table tennis in Maracay to girls kickball in El Hatillo, every donation makes a difference.
Thanks again for being part of this project!
